Review by Camden Ferrell
At the start of the century, the world was introduced to the world of Jackass. After a successful television show, the franchise went on to make numerous movies. After 11 years, we are once again seeing the gang come back together in Jackass Forever. A lot has changed in that time for our group, but the one thing that has proven constant is that they will never fail to make you laugh consistently with gruesome and graphic stunts as proven with their newest effort.
In this film, we once again watch our favorite group of careless friends put themselves in danger for our amusement. As per usual, this involves a lot of injuries, a lot of bodily fluids, and a lot of graphic nudity. This is pretty much the same formula they have always done in their movies, but if it ain’t broke, why fix it? The biggest concern coming into this movie is whether or not age has mellowed the group. However, almost immediately, they put those concerns to rest. They have not lost their touch for entertaining audiences or hurting themselves on camera. The movie opens with their typical cinematic and chaotic introduction, and this one is one of their best. Without giving away too much, be prepared to laugh from the very start. It's great to see a lot of original members back, specifically Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Wee-Man to name a few. In addition to the original gang, we have many new members who make a great addition to the cast. While they all are great, the standout of the newbies is the affectionately nicknamed “Poopies”.
What’s really surprising is how many great new ideas were executed in this film. They haven’t lost any creativity, and they continue to prove there’s more than one way to skin a cat. They have stunts that are so bizarre that most people wouldn’t be able to dream up something like that. They also have some fan service by referencing old stunts or doing a new take on one of their classic pranks.
While all of their movies have been wildly inappropriate and graphic, I’d fathom to say this one might be their most graphic. It features a lot of nudity, bodily harm, and injury. It’s extremely over the top, but it works perfectly. There are few movies that can make you laugh as hard as this one. They have some stunts in this movie that are absolutely painful to watch, but like always, you never want to look away. This is the perfect movie to see in theaters with friends or a big audience. It’s a great film for many, and it’s extra special for fans of the franchise. After over a decade, these guys are still at the top of their game, and if this is the last we see of this legendary group, it is a beautiful and fittingly gross send off. Jackass Forever is one of the most outrageously funny movies in a long time. Even if it’s reusing their tried and tested formula, there is not a single wasted second in the movie. With the right audience in theaters this weekend, you’ll almost certainly cry from laughter more than once. Jackass Forever is in theaters February 4. Rating: 4/5
